FALL / WINTER HARVEST
B
EGINS LATE SEPTEMBER
The Big Break Is Here
The hot days of Summer are really on top of us now, and it's time to time to take the
big break so that we can get ready for Fall/Winter planting and harvesting.  That's
what "Eating With The Seasons" is all about.

According to Plan
Back in December, we projected that we would have 15 weeks of harvest for the
Spring/Summer season, and we have successfully reached that goal.  And so we are
looking forward to another 15 weeks of harvesting great organic veggies during the
Fall/Winter harvest season beginning in late September.

Clearing and Planting
We will spend the next few weeks nurturing seeds into plantlings, clearing and
plowing the fields, and planting the Fall/Winter crops.  By the way, the hordes of
grasshoppers just flat out consumed our emerging corn and pinto snap crops, so
we'll plow under the remains of the stalks and vines to fertilize next season's crops.

The Fall/Winter Crops
Starting in late September, we'll be harvesting: green beans, pinto snaps, zucchini,
acorn squash, butternut squash, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, cucumbers,
Romaine lettuce, butterhead lettuce, lettuce mixes, kale, collards, chard, beets,
radishes, carrots, garlic, dill, cilantro, and sage.

E-Mail Newsletters
We will keep sending our periodic e-mail newsletters to keep you up-to-date on
what's happening at the farm, what's being planted, what's beginning to grow,
information on healthy eating and nutrition, workshops, salsa sales, and so on.

Thoughts About Our CSA Members
This Spring and Summer have brought a great experience serving you and learning
about growing good vegetables.  Getting to see you every week is the best part of
what we do!  Growing the best organic vegetables that we can grow is the next
best part.  It can only get better!  We expect that our Fall/Winter crops will be more
abundant for you because of our experience thus far.

Thank you for your wonderful support.  We could not do it without you!
